Mixing Tips – Delay

Mixing Tips – Delay

In this quick tutorial we’re going to demonstrate a bit of processing we used in the verse section of song recorded at Signature Sound Studio.

PROCESSING:
Before adding the delay we applied a bit of EQ to give the voice a bit more presence. I cut the low end around 180HZ and I enhanced the mid-highs to about 2.8 to 3 kilohertz. Then I also raised some frequencies about 15 kilohertz to give it some “air”, which gives it a bit more smoothness. I also cut the low end to 50hertz to eliminate noises under that frequency. I then used some compression and a DeEsser (to eliminate all the sibilance on the S’s). To hear how we used the delay, make sure to watch the video above.
