I am a producer, recording engineer, guitarist and drummer. I was raised in the UK and then moved to San Diego California in 1981 to pursue a music career. I have spent my lifetime listening to and absorbing music from many different fields, from Prog rock to ECM jazz, Reggae to Classical, Funk to World Music. I love groove based music but I also love the textures and shifting colors of some ambient music. I am a lifelong fan of Joni Mitchell and formed a band, Mutts of the Planet, to play her catalog in concert. My instrumental work has seen almost two decades of film and TV usage and I have won several 1st place awards in song festivals for my songwriting. Steven Baumrucker

Just started and can already tell this will be a course I will recommend to my students. Well done.

Class is good so far and I’m able to follow. I would like to know more of the thinking behind the decisions to adjust levels as we go. Is a certain part too loud, not loud enough… those kinds of things

Abraham F Rivera

Overall I learned a lot. Played with his practices on a verse on a song I’m currently mixing. Already sounds way better. I’ll be going through my notes to finish the rest. Deducted 1/2 a star because one issue I always have is figuring out how to fit the vocals in the pocket of the beat.

Excellence

Chris Stansberry

Learned a lot. Worth the money if you’re starting out learning about mixing. The music they were working with here is more POP., not really rock but helpful non the less. Thank you.

Antonio Trinchera

Corso stupendo, esaustivo, devo rivederlo in alcuni punti.

Hideaki Yamakado

It’s a great course. I learned a lot of useful tips and techniques. I’m sure I improved my mixing skills/techniques after watching his videos. Thank you very much!

Matthew Hart

Incredibly detailed and thorough. Tons of start-to-finish walk-throughs for a wide variety of applications. Excellent coverage of both the technical workings of these processors and the theory behind why and when/where to use them.

Chris Stansberry

Excellent walk thru. Very helpful if your mixing live recorded drums.

Robert Poyser

Very thorough and clearly explained. The audio examples are way louder than the instruction and sometimes repeated too many times, but it gets the point through and ample time to get that point. I thoroughly recommend it despite my criticism

Rustam Munasipov
Wow. This course changes my life. Thank you. I understand what is compression and how I really can use it. I was blind and now I see))))

Angel

Amazing course and easy to understand! 10/10

Gerald Garner

Not for beginners.

Charles Weiselberg

I really can’t tell how you came to the conclusions you did. For example, I’m watching the guidance on Side-chaining right now. I have no idea when one DOES any particular thing. You are very very familiar and this is where I always lose understanding completely haha

IMPORTANT!! WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON’T GET PROFESSIONAL HELP?
Well, ask yourself this, three months from now, how much better will my songs be? It would help if you reached out of your comfort zone to avoid repeating yourself and writing redundant songs. Songwriters often spend hours and days playing instruments without direction, wishing to stumble into a good song. This course will give you musical resources to inspire and help you find ways to sound different and work more efficiently. It will make your writing process enjoyable and reduce and help you overcome your writer’s block frustration.
